Remote desktop sharing applications are very useful tools for IT techies, they are like our life saver sometimes or anyone who is working as a distributed team and need desktop collaboration, supporting a remote web application that you had built or need to manage the work computer from home. There are many ways you can make use of such a wonderful tool, because its not only built for the tech savvy but also for the less tech savvy people. Most of these remote desktop software developers provide you with a very comprehensive help guide.
Today we are here to review all those great and FREE remote desktop applications which helps to build this remote connection. Those which are showcased here are the chosen ones out of the many others available on the web.
Yuuguu’s main application window looks just like a chat window storing all your contacts. Adding a new contact on the list consists in typing in the desired email address. The software will connect to the server to let you know if that contact is already signed up to Yuuguu or not. If the user is not using Yuuguu, an inviting email will be sent providing all needed information in order to get started.
Setting up the program is a cinch. You can change your account details (name and password) and configure Yuuguu to start with Windows in minimized mode, enable automatic login and sound as well as enable fast screen-sharing. Once all the settings are made, you can proceed to sharing your screen. Each user starts his/her own screen sharing session. It is kind of awkward, as generally, local computers ask for permission of viewing remote desktop and the other part accepts or declines. In this case, the remote part initiates screen sharing and the local computer has to accept/refuse the connection.

TeamViewer is a simple and fast solution for remote control, desktop sharing and file. Connecting to another computer can’t be simpler, just run TeamViewer on both machines without the need of an installation procedure. With the first start automatic partner IDs are generated on both computers. Enter your partner’s ID into TeamViewer and the connection is established immediately. It allows two people to do file transfers, remote support (with or without installation), remote administration of unattended servers/pc’s & remote presentation of products.

Hi, T tried LogMeIn,GoToMyPC,Teamviewer and Radmin. Most of all I liked Radmin because of its speed.
And I have never heard of Mikogo…
hey martin! thanks for dropping by!
yea you should check mikogo out…its features are kinda cool…
I have not tried Radmin yet….I should give it a try some day and write a review on it.
VNC is free too
Log me in is my all time Fav
yooo…AhB thanks 4 droppin by man!
for me i would prefer teamviewer over logmein because of its file transfer features.
Dont need the file trasfer yet tho …
but secure VNC can do that too
My current favorite is GBridge to remotely connect via VNC or RDP from work to home and vice versa. It uses the GTalk network and happily goes through NAT. It offers file syncing (Secureshares) and other functionality that I use on occasion.
Its installed on machines whose owners may need a bit of help now and then (ie, my parents) and i don’t have to travel half an hour to show my father how to attach a file to his outlook email.. (yes.. done that).
Only downside, its Windows only.
I haven’t heard of some of the ones you mention and being an “app-aholic”, i’ll be sure to give some of them a try
Thanks!
Dee
AhB: haha yeaa VNC can as well. I used to use that app.
Dee:yeaa you should give yuuguu and screenstream a try they both work for mac….i find em both quite nice to use
no worries its always good to share useful apps. glad that you found it useful.
Hi Skullfire
Thanks for including Mikogo in your collection of remote support tools.
Did you hear about our new release this week? We just released the remote keyboard and mouse control feature for the Mikogo Mac Beta version. This allows you to start a meeting from a Mac or PC, and then assist others via remote support, regardless of whether they join your meeting from a Mac or PC. Now you can use Mikogo as a cross-platform tool for not only web conferences and online meetings (with multiple participants) but also remote support. And still for free
More info available at http://www.mikogo.com/mac
Cheers!

This is very helpful information. The large nonprofit that I work for uses RHUB Web Conferencing ( http://rhubcom.com/v4/web_conferencing/home.html)... really appreciate the quality of a premium web conferencing application. It's not free, but I feel like the perks are worth the investment.
hey thanks for the information on the remote web conferencing device which you have suggested there….do visit us for updates soon kelsey =)
nice list check this: http://www.masternewmedia.org/screen-share-top-25...
Hi, nikomeeting at http://www.nikomeeting.com is free too and has also audio conferencing integrated.
I've been using Crossloop now for a few years and I really think its a wonderful product. Having the ability to connect remotely to a client's computer and fix a problem without an on-site visit and in a timely fashion makes it a very valuable tool.
I really don’t ordinarily reply to posts but I will in this circumstance.
