Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant (다오래)

Daorae Korean Restaurant is well known to serve damn good Korean food but I never happen to try it before, not till recently I went there for a meal to celebrate my friend, Sarah Teh’s  birthday. Daorae has like a few branch around KL and Klang Valley area, they have like five branch so far. Places which they have branched out to are Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puteri Puchong, Subang Taipan, Metro Perdana Kepong and Kota Damansara (the one which I visited).

As I came out of the elevator I saw this freaking huge poster of Rain at their enterance, according to the scribbled daorae-dining2comments on the poster it seems like Rain’s group actually visited this restaurant while they were down town. In my heart I was thinking, “Whoaa…even Korean Superstars visited this place, food here must be fuckin awesome”.

Daorae, serves authentic korean dishes and high quality fresh food with a simple korean styling deco and a relaxed environment. They even had exhaust ducts for the bbq stove on each table, personally I felt it didnt help much because my shirt still smelt like Korean BBQ when I left after my meal. One thing good which I love about Korean restaurant’s is their unlimited refill of Ban-Chan (small dishes served along with meal). The most popular and common among the small dishes is the Kimchi and .

daorae-pork

We ordered many dishes, the Pork Ju-mul-luk (pork slice BBQ), Dak-gla-bi (chicken BBQ), Sam Kyub Sal (thin slices of pork belly), Wang Gal-bi (beef ribs) and beef slices (cant remember the korean name for this), Gin-seng chicken (i wouldnt reccomend this coz its pretty tastesless),various types of warm/cold noodles, korean pancake and my favorite Kimchi Jjigae (kimchi soup).

Daorae Korean PancakeMost of the meat dishes(for BBQ) which we ordered doesn’t have much taste by itself as it’s not marinated so to make it taste better you will have to dip it in the salted sauce provided. However, these meats was certainly juicy and tender as you can see from the pictures. The korean pancake tasted good, its quite different from the usual pancake, this pancake is topped with slices of carrots, cucumber and capsicums over a thin layer of flour.

The Kimchi Jjigae is a spicy combination of meat, cellophane noodles, vegetables, kimchi & tofu in rich kimchi soup. This is still my all time favorite korean dish, the taste is excellent, you will get so hooked on till cant stop drinking it after your first sip. I could only recall roughly about the Janchi Gook Su, which is a hot noodle soup with fresh vegetables & seafood, I didnt quite like this dish which I felt it was a bit bland, maybe some of you might like it.

daorae-sojuLastly, a piece of advice if you wanna make the dinner even more enjoyable and tasty you can follow what me and one of my pals did. We ordered 2 bottles of Soju (rice wine), drank all the way throughout the meal. It actually got us a little tipsy for a while over the meal. :)

Overall, most of my friends agreed that the service, environment and food here was pretty good and fantastic.
